Thermal technology tenders activity in June 2019 saw 218 tenders announced, marking a rise of 18% over the last 12-month average of 185, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Oil was the top category in Thermal technology in terms of number of tenders for the month, accounting for 174 tenders and an 80.9% share, followed by Coal with 24 tenders and an 11.2% share. Gas stood in third place with 17 tenders and a 7.9% share.
Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, Thermal held the top position in terms of number of tenders during June 2019 with a 54% share.
The proportion of tenders by category in thermal technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 151 tenders and a 69.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 56 tenders and a 25.7% share
- Project Implementation: six tenders and a 2.8% share.
Asia-Pacific leads Thermal tender activity in June 2019
Comparing tenders activity in Thermal technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 95 tenders and a share of 43.6% during June 2019, followed by North America with 84 tenders and a 38.5% share and Middle East and Africa with 26 tenders and an 11.9% share.
In fourth place was Europe with 12 tenders and a 5.5% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with one tender and a 0.5% share.

The top issuers of tenders in Thermal technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
