Description

The project is being developed and currently owned by Ministry of Electricity, Iraq. The company has a stake of 100%.

It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant can run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant will be natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant will run on Liquid Distillate Fuel Oil.

Contractors involved

SNC-Lavalin Group is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the Karbala Combined Cycle Power Plant (Karbala Combined Cycle Power Plant Phase I).

Karbala Combined Cycle Power Plant (Karbala Combined Cycle Power Plant Phase I) will be equipped with GE Power 2x1 MS 9E gas turbines. The phase consists of 2 gas turbines with 125MW nameplate capacity.

GE Power is expected to be the supplier of electric generator for the Karbala Combined Cycle Power Plant (Karbala Combined Cycle Power Plant Phase I).

Albario Engineering and GE Power are expected to be contracted for rendering of operations & maintenance services for the project.
