Description
The project is being developed by Bangladesh India Friendship Power. The project is co-owned by Bangladesh Power Development Board and NTPC, with their respective ownership stake of 50% each.
It is a Steam Turbine power plant that will be used for Baseload. The fuel will be procured from Coal India Ltd.
The project cost is expected to be around $2,000m.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2017. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by December 2022.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to Bangladesh Power Development Board under a power purchase agreement for a period of 25 years. The offtake capacity is expected to be 1,320MW.
Contractors involved
Bharat Heavy Electricals is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the coal fired power project.
Bangladesh India Friendship Power is expected to perform operations and maintenance for thermal power project.
