REpower Systems has finalised a contract with RWE Innogy to supply two REpower 6M wind turbines for the Westereems wind project n the Dutch province of Gronigen.
The units to be installed at the wind farm, will have a rated power of 6.15MW and a hub height of 114m.
The wind farm, with a current installed power of 156MW, is the largest in the Netherlands and will now be extended by a further 12.3MW.
Repower, in addition to the delivery and construction of the wind turbines, will be responsible for manufacturing the foundations.
Prof. Martin Skiba, RWE Innogy head of offshore wind energy, said the two 6M turbines are ideal for the expansion of the Westereems facility.
"With operation of the plants, we aim at gaining new insights for their employment on the high seas in the project Nordsee Ost," he said.

Currently, Repower is working on the production of wind turbines at the company’s offshore production in Bremerhaven.
The wind farm will feature 48 6M-type turbines, which will be delivered in 2012.
Recently, REpower Systems signed a contract with EverPower for the supply of turbines for the Twin Ridges wind project in Somerset County, US.
The power facility will employ REpower’s Version MM92 turbines, which will have a rated power of 2.05MW and a hub height of 80m.
The project is expected to be commissioned in the third and fourth quarters of 2012, and will generate a total power output of 140MW.
Twin Ridges is the second project to be carried out between EverPower and the German-based wind turbine manufacturer.
