Denmark-based Vestas has secured orders for the supply of 139MW wind turbines from First Wind for its two wind energy projects located in the US.

Under the terms of the contract, Vestas will supply, install and commission 77 V100-1.8MW turbines and provide maintenance services for a period of ten years.

It will also include remote monitoring and surveillance of the projects through the VestasOnline SCADA system.

The first order is for a 104.4MW Palouse Wind project in located in Whitman County, Washington, which will receive 58 V100-1.8 MW turbines.

The second order is for a 34.2MW Bull Hill wind power plant in Hancock County, Maine, which will be equipped with 19 V100-1.8MW turbines.

The Palouse Wind contract includes Vestas active output management (AOM) service programme, while the Bull Hill service agreement includes the AOM 4000 maintenance programme.

Vestas will commence delivery of both the projects from mid-2012 and is expected to install wind turbines in late 2012.
