US-based independent solar power producer Silicon Ranch and Walton Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) have built three utility-scale solar facilities to supply clean electricity to Meta’s data centre in Newton County, Georgia, US.

The Lumpkin Solar Farm, Lancaster Solar Farm and Snipesville II Solar Farm are located across the state’s south-west and south-east regions.

The three solar assets have a combined capacity of 287MW.

Silicon Ranch partnered with IEA to build the Lumpkin Solar Farm in Stewart County, which has 100MWac of capacity.

The 80MWac Lancaster Solar Farm in Colquitt County and the Snipesville II Solar Farm in Jeff Davis County, whose capacity amounts to 107MWac, were developed in collaboration with McCarthy Building Companies.

Silicon Ranch funded the projects and will own, operate and maintain them.

Walton EMC and Silicon Ranch have completed six projects across Georgia, with 435MWac of combined capacity, on Meta’s behalf to date.

Silicon Ranch has also begun works on the seventh project, the 125MWac DeSoto I Solar Farm in Lee County.
