US-based independent solar power producer Silicon Ranch and Walton Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) have built three utility-scale solar facilities to supply clean electricity to Meta’s data centre in Newton County, Georgia, US.

The Lumpkin Solar Farm, Lancaster Solar Farm and Snipesville II Solar Farm are located across the state’s south-west and south-east regions.

The three solar assets have a combined capacity of 287MW.

Silicon Ranch partnered with IEA to build the Lumpkin Solar Farm in Stewart County, which has 100MWac of capacity.

The 80MWac Lancaster Solar Farm in Colquitt County and the Snipesville II Solar Farm in Jeff Davis County, whose capacity amounts to 107MWac, were developed in collaboration with McCarthy Building Companies.

Silicon Ranch co-founder and CEO Reagan Farr said: “Silicon Ranch is honoured by the confidence and trust that Walton EMC and Meta continue to place in our company to execute on their behalf.

“We thank all the men and women at IEA, McCarthy and Georgia Transmission Corporation who supported our efforts and helped us continue this important economic development work across the state of Georgia.”

Silicon Ranch funded the projects and will own, operate and maintain them.

Walton EMC and Silicon Ranch have completed six projects across Georgia, with 435MWac of combined capacity, on Meta’s behalf to date.

Silicon Ranch has also begun works on the seventh project, the 125MWac DeSoto I Solar Farm in Lee County.

Meta Renewable Energy head Urvi Parekh said: “We are thrilled that these new solar projects are now online and will help us continue to meet our goal of supporting our data centre in Newton County with 100% renewable energy.

“We thank Silicon Ranch and Walton EMC for their continued partnership, for their dedication to successful execution and for sharing our commitment to having a positive impact on the communities where we locate.”
