Ampyr Solar Europe (ASE), a Singapore-based independent power producer (IPP), has acquired a 390MW solar plus battery energy storage system portfolio in the UK from Tyler Hill Renewables.

The portfolio includes five solar plus storage projects with secured grid connections.

These projects are now being submitted for planning consent. They will be located in Somerset, Worcestershire and County Durham. There will also be a nationally significant infrastructure project in Moray, Scotland.

Ampyr agreed to partner with Tyler Hill on the portfolio’s further development until "ready-to-build" status is secured. Construction is expected to begin in 2024.

Ampyr’s power purchase agreement (PPA) team simultaneously aims to secure long-term power off-takers for the generated power.

The portfolio’s acquisition strengthens Amply's position as a major UK solar player and furthers its goal of becoming a leading European IPP.

ASE commercial lead Matthew van Staden stated: “We are thrilled to be working with Tyler Hill on this transaction. We are confident that our partnership will deliver high-quality, cost-effective solar projects that are delivered in a timely manner.

“This will be especially important to PPA off-takers who need price and delivery certainty to meet their sustainability goals. The commercial team at ASE is in a number of PPA discussions with UK off-takers and will be expanding discussions with additional counterparties in relation to these new projects now added to the portfolio.”

Ampyr will have a development pipeline of 1.8GW in the UK, with an aggregate pipeline of 7GW in Germany and the Netherlands.

In June 2023, Ampyr received €200m ($216.85m) from Rabobank to build and operate 350MW of solar plants across Europe. The financing will initially support the construction of three solar projects in the Netherlands.
