CNOOD-Wenchong Heavy Industries (CWHI) has announced the delivery of 32 XXL monopiles to the Port of Leith for the Inch Cape Offshore wind farm in the UK.

Located 15km off Scotland's Angus coast, the wind farm will comprise 72 turbines situated in the North Sea, with a capacity of 1.1GW.

The delivery of the monopiles was made on time, within budget, and met the project's quality and safety standards.

This project involved a complex fabrication and delivery programme over several months, underscoring CWHI's capabilities in project execution, manufacturing, marine logistics and port operations.

The final shipment of eight monopiles departed from CWHI's Qinzhou yard in China in December 2025 aboard the COSCO vessel XIANG TAIKOU and has been offloaded at Leith, fulfilling the complete supply requirements for the Inch Cape project.

Designed for challenging offshore conditions, each monopile measures up to 11.5m in diameter, extends to 103m in length and weighs up to 2,300t.

These specifications highlight the project's scale and technical demands, demonstrating CWHI's proficiency in delivering large-diameter offshore foundation structures.

This delivery supports national decarbonisation objectives and strengthens Scotland's status as a leader in offshore wind development.

Inch Cape is set to enhance the UK's renewable energy capacity and further the transition to low-carbon power.

CWHI chief development officer Dale Young said: “Finalising all monopile deliveries for Inch Cape is a significant achievement for our team.

“It reflects the dedication of our Qinzhou yard teams, the reliability of our partners, and our shared focus on schedule certainty, quality and safe execution in support of Scotland's offshore wind ambitions.”
