The Gurbanesti order's deliveries are forecast to begin next year.

GE Vernova has signed an agreement with Greenvolt Power to supply onshore wind turbines for the Gurbanesti wind farm in Călărași county, Romania.

The contractual scope covers the supply, installation, and commissioning of 42 units of 6.1MW, 158m rotor turbines.

This marks the second major onshore wind agreement for GE Vernova Romania within two months, following an earlier announcement to deliver another 42 turbines for the Ialomița wind farm in the country.

These two projects will provide a combined capacity of roughly 500MW, advancing Romania’s objective to substantially expand its renewable energy by 2030.

They are together expected to generate enough electricity each year to power more than 110,000 homes in Romania.

The Gurbanesti order was recorded in the fourth quarter of 2025, with wind turbines deliveries set to begin in 2026.

The wind farms will create hundreds of full-time jobs during peak construction, according to the company.

GE Vernova operates a global fleet of approximately 57,000 turbines and delivering 120GW of installed capacity worldwide.

GE Vernova’s onshore wind international markets chief commercial officer Gilan Sabatier said: “We are pleased to once again support Greenvolt as they work to bring online more renewable energy in Romania and across the globe.

“Paired with our earlier announcement about supporting a similar sized Romanian wind farm, today’s announcement reinforces the value our workhorse turbines can create for customers in Romania and across Europe.”

The company said its portfolio features next-generation, high-power turbines designed for large-scale deployment, accelerating decarbonisation by delivering sustainable renewable energy.
