Noveria Energy has entered into a grid connection construction agreement with TenneT Germany to develop a 250MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in Niedersachsen.

Scheduled for grid connection in early 2028, the project will link to the German transmission network in a region where substantial offshore wind power from the North Sea is integrated into the grid.

By finalising this agreement, Noveria has secured a timeline for the connection and set the technical framework for future operations.

Upon completion, the battery storage facility will operate under the grid connection arrangement and is expected to address grid stability requirements and support the integration of renewable electricity.

BESS have gained significance as tools for managing the input of variable renewable resources and maintaining reliable power system operation.

This project is among several battery storage initiatives in Noveria’s development pipeline, which encompasses more than 3GW of planned capacity.

In January 2026, TenneT Germany and the UK’s National Grid announced plans to develop GriffinLink, an offshore interconnector that will connect offshore wind generation from both countries to their respective electricity grids.

The project will link British and German offshore wind resources with the power networks in each country.

GriffinLink aims to increase the security of electricity supply and improve market integration across north-western Europe.
