OCI Energy, a utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects developer, has sold a 100 megawatt alternating current (MWac)/130 direct current (MWdc) solar project in Texas to Sabanci Renewables, the US green energy unit of Turkish conglomerate Sabanci Holding.

Project Lucky 7 Solar is located in Hopkins County within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) - North market.

The sale marks the second successful collaboration between OCI and Sabanci following the divestment of the 120 MWac/156 MWdc Project Pepper solar project.

Lucky 7 Solar will now proceed to the construction and operational stages under Sabanci Renewables' management.

The project spans 745 acres and is expected to deliver clean energy to the ERCOT-North market grid by 2027.

Sabanci Renewables CEO Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu stated that the company remains focused on creating long-term value in line with its Bridge to a Better Future vision while expanding its renewable energy investments in the US.

Sabanci Renewables aims to set up 3GW of renewable portfolio in the US by the end of 2030.

“Project Lucky 7 marks another significant step in delivering clean and reliable energy. The acquisition aligns with Sabanci Group’s 100-year legacy of responsible growth and long-term value creation,” Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu stated.

OCI Energy and Sabanci Renewables have agreed to explore additional project opportunities, indicating a mutual interest in developing energy solutions that prioritise security, reliability and affordability.

OCI Energy develops cleaner, sustainable and reliable energy, from siting to construction and beyond, that helps power the grid. The company has a diverse nationwide portfolio of projects from pre-development to asset management, targeting up to 10GW by 2028.

In December 2024, CPS Energy partnered OCI Energy to build a 120MW/480 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system in Texas.
