Toshiba JSW Power Systems, the Indian subsidiary of Toshiba, has been awarded a contract by India’s National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) to implement a centralised monitoring platform covering 165 thermal and renewable energy facilities.
The platform will be installed across sites owned or operated by NTPC and its joint ventures, including projects still in the planning phase.
This deployment is NTPC’s first implementation of a centralised plant monitoring solution.
The system is due to become operational in March-April 2027 and will incorporate EtaPRO, Toshiba’s plant monitoring software.
The monitoring platform will collect operational data from sensors at individual plants and apply AI to that data.
It is designed to identify early signs of equipment faults and to perform root‑cause analysis.
The collected data will also be used to streamline maintenance workflows and to help limit the frequency and duration of plant outages.
Historical data analysis will support more accurate anomaly forecasting and improvements in maintenance planning.

Earlier this year, Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions received an order to supply a steam turbine and generator for Unit 2 of the Patuha geothermal power plant in West Java, Indonesia.
The order was placed by Toyo Engineering’s subsidiary, PT Inti Karya Persada Tehnik, the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for the project.
The plant is operated by PT Geo Dipa Energi, an Indonesian state-owned enterprise.
