Trina Storage and Lightshift to deploy over 1GWh energy storage systems in US

Trina Storage and Lightshift Energy have revealed an expanded partnership to deploy over 1GWh of grid-scale energy storage projects across the US.

The collaboration will use Trina Storage’s Elementa 2.0 and 2.5 solutions, designed for high efficiency, safety, and reliable performance in a wide range of conditions.

These energy storage systems will improve grid stability, help manage peak loads, and provide flexible capacity.

The move comes as rising electricity demand and extreme weather events challenge grid stability across the country.

By teaming up, Lightshift will be able to scale the roll out of distribution-connected battery fleets, enabling rapid, scalable delivery and direct support for load growth, as well as boosting reliability and deliver cost savings for customers.

Lightshift Energy managing partner Mike Herbert said: “Lightshift is committed to scaling high-value storage assets that support the reliability and evolution of the US power system.

“We are proud to continue our work alongside Trina Storage on projects that advance our strategy and reflect our continued focus on delivering solutions that strengthen grid resilience, address load growth, and provide consistent, high-quality performance for the customers and communities we serve.”

In 2024, Trina Storage and Lightshift Energy collaborated on four projects in Groton, Holden, and Paxton, Massachusetts.

Trina Storage North America head of sales Doug Alderton said: “We are pleased to continue our collaboration with Lightshift through this significant milestone. Our earlier joint projects demonstrate what our strong partnership can accomplish under demanding conditions.

“Trina Storage is dedicated to delivering more reliable, flexible energy storage to communities across the US and we look forward to supporting Lightshift in making our shared vision a reality.”

In April this year, Trina Storage collaborated with FlexGen Power Systems to deliver a 371MWh battery energy storage system in Houston, Texas, US.
