UK-based SIMEC Atlantis Energy has completed the installation of a 500kW tidal stream turbine in China in spite of the coronavirus pandemic. The tidal stream turbine, which has a rotor diameter of 18m, has been installed in the islands of Putuoshan and Huludao in the Zhoushan archipelago off China’s east coast.
The ongoing lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak is expected to dent revenues of General Electric’s (GE) power business. The company’s revenue from fixing power plants is bound to plummet as several major US utilities with fleets of GE generators have either paused or deferred maintenance, Reuters reported.
India-based Swelect Energy Systems has restarted operations at its solar photovoltaic (PV) modules manufacturing facility in Bangalore. The rooftop solar installation company said that it has received permission to recommence its operation after adhering to the directives issued by the federal government in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
RWE Renewables has pledged $250,000 for the relief work carried by various organisations in the US in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The company will make the funds available to partners from more than 45 organisations across 11 US states. The donations will be offered to organisations such as first responders, food banks and food pantries, as well as social services for senior citizens.
