South and Central America power industry tenders in Q2 2021: Bolivia leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Bolivia led the activity in Q2 2021 with 38 tenders and a share of 42.2%, up 2.4% over the previous quarter and up 58% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Uruguay with 16 tenders and a share of 17.8% and Trinidad and Tobago with ten tenders and a share of 11.1% during the quarter.

Looking at the last four-quarter average, Bolivia held the top spot with 24 tenders, followed by Uruguay with nine and Trinidad and Tobago with seven tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in Q2 2021

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 16 tenders and a 76.2% share, followed by thermal with two tenders and a 9.5% share and wind with one tender and a 4.8% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in South and Central America power tenders activity during Q2 2021, with 53 tenders, followed by Power Plant (15) and T&D Project (14).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  2. Project Implementation: 25 tenders and a 27.8% share
