Chernobyl New Safe Confinement (NSC), Ukraine
Chernobyl New Safe Confinement’s (NSC) final commissioning test was completed in April 2019.
Tractel is a world leader in its speciality fields and has a long and established track record in providing standard and tailor made solutions for suspended access, height safety, evacuation and training and materials lifting and handling.
The company prides itself on its creative design teams, which are constantly developing innovative solutions to meet new demands from the market.
Tractel is greatly experienced in the conception, design and installation of engineered access solutions in the windmill industry for both internal and external applications. It has designed and installed innovative lifts within the windmill shaft, based on Tirak man riding hoists, which fully comply with all health and safety regulations.
Externally, it has designed maintenance cradles that allow regular inspection and maintenance of both blades and tower.
Given that access into furnaces is very restricted, Tractel has developed special maintenance cradles that are designed in kit form and readily assembled once inside on portable floor panels and rigged with suspension and safety ropes. These engineered kits are made from lightweight aluminium, which can be fitted through the ash pits, manholes or even the access doors, minimising furnace down time and ensuring maximum performance.
Maintenance cradles also exist for the regular inspection and maintenance of plant stacks.
Many dramatic accidents can be avoided when hoisting a technician to the derrick crown onshore, by letting the technician control his own movements, by remote radio, the Tirak hoist located above him.
It’s a compact unit, approved by OSHA for man riding, easy to install and is developed by Tractel specialists in the USA and Europe.
Tractel has designed and installed special engineered maintenance platforms for nuclear power stations that are used not only for regular maintenance of the cooling towers but also for the tensioning of the wire cables and monitoring of radiation levels.
The single biggest risk to life and safety of people working in industry is falling from height. Tractel designs a wide range of temporary and permanent personal fall protection to suit a variety of working applications. Product range includes:
LIFTING AND HANDLING
The DYNAFOR principle is based on the use of strain gauges which give an electrical signal under strain, relative to the load applied and displayed on the LCD.
The wide variety of wire rope lifting systems require an equivalent range of overload limiters.
