In recent modernisation of a large coal-fired power plant in Denmark, Solvina successfully conducted a grid compliance testing of the new excitation system. The work was a mix of theoretical studies and measurement and testing.

Solvina carried out:

  • Simulation of grid compliance regarding fault ride through, PSS function, SC currents, stability margins
  • Tuning of PSS and AVR in order to obtain optimum functionality within grid code boundaries
  • Tuning of UEL in order to comply with grid code requirements
  • Test and measurements on site as part of FAT for V&V and additional tuning.

The work required fine detail modelling of excitation control system that is of non-IEEE type.
