A look back at 2023

Throughout the year Elmeridge continued to deliver high quality special cables across their core market sectors: Ships Marine Navigation & Radar, Pumps & Sensors, Oil & Gas, Underwater Marine & Offshore, CCTV Mainline (Pipes & Drains), Railways & Trams, Medical & Science, Cranes & Lifts, High Temperature & Thermocouples, Instrumentation & Control, Robotics & Automation, MV & HV Cables, and Aerostat Cables.

Elmeridge further increased its international distribution network this year, working with customers in Australia, Bangladesh, China, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Dubai, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Norway, Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, Turkey, USA, Poland, Singapore, Ukraine, Vietnam and South Korea.

Elmeridge were very please to receive another order from BAS (British Antarctic Survey) for the Sir David Attenborough polar research ship for 10,000 metres of a CTD cable (Conductivity Temperature and Depth).

The team also produced new designs for Pipe Inspection, Silicone, Ships Navigation/Radar, Offshore, Aerostat, and Waste Management cables.

With impressive lead-times of 12 to 16 weeks and competitive pricing, our presence within these markets is growing rapidly.

Elmeridge continued to work in the Low Voltage (LV) market all through the year, supplying cables to the sensor market, offshore, fish farms, ships navigation/radar, and delivering a large quantity of our Divers’ Comms cable from stock to India.

We hold Cat5e and Cat6 cables on stock, with a fully watertight PUR jacket, in yellow, black or blue. We also hold a range of H07RN-F rubber flexible cables and NSSHOEU-J and SMK-V crane cables on stock.

Our earth braids and lugs continue to do well, as do our range of cable stockings.

In addition, the year had a significant boost within our Medium Voltage (MV) and High Voltage (HV) cable sectors, with 11kV and 36kV projects being predominant, together with a major R&D project that Elmeridge have been involved with from the early stages.

Throughout the year Elmeridge have worked on a number of special, composite cables incorporating screened and unscreened twisted data pairs, triples, and quads, as well as coaxes, fibre optics, power conductors, strength members (Kevlar/Vectran/Aramid/GRP rods), steel wire armour (Galvanised Improved Plow Steel, Nitronic 50, SAE 316L steel, in single or multiple layers) and braiding, with a range of outer sheath materials to suit various environments and applications.

This year finally brought a satisfactory close to a trademark infringement dispute to defend our registered trademark ‘Elmeridge’, which began in 2016 and escalated during 2018, regrettably leading to formal court proceedings that Elmeridge won on two counts. The consolidated proceedings can be viewed on the Intellectual Property office (IPO) website here:

The decision was appealed by the defendant and overruled by the court. This resulted in High Court proceedings, which were only avoided by a substantial out of court settlement for damages and compensation.

There really is only one Elmeridge…
