The project was developed by Access Infra Africa, Building Energy and Total Eren. Access Infra Africa and Total Eren are currently owning the project.

Access EREN Benban Solar PV Park I is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 97 hectares.

The project generates 143GWh electricity thereby offsetting 100,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $77.333m.
