Asia-Pacific power industry tenders in March 2020: India leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, India led the activity in March 2020 with 225 tenders and a share of 56.5%, up 4.6% over the previous month and down 32% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by the Philippines with 78 tenders and a share of 19.6% and Bangladesh with 45 tenders and a share of 11.3% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, India held the top spot with 332 tenders, followed by the Philippines with 91 and Bangladesh with 90 tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in March 2020
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 60 tenders and a 48.4% share, followed by thermal with 55 tenders and a 44.4% share and hydro with five tenders and a 4% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment in March 2020, with 169 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (122) and Generation Equipment (54).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 181 tenders and a 45.5% share
- Supply & Erection: 144 tenders and a 36.2% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 66 tenders and a 16.6% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: three tenders and a 0.8% share
- Electricity Supply: two tenders and a 0.5% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: two tenders and a 0.5% share.

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 9,066MW from five tenders
- Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (India): 2,200MW from two tenders
- Ministry of Energy, Uzbekistan: 1,500MW capacity from one tender.
