Europe power industry contracts in July 2019: Greece leads activity

Looking at contracts by country, Greece led the activity in July 2019 with 27 contracts and a share of 38.6%, a flat growth over the previous month and up 286% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by the UK with nine contracts and a share of 12.9% and Germany with seven contracts and a share of 10% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, France held the top spot with 34 contracts, followed by the UK with 13 and Spain with seven contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in July 2019

Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 28 contracts and a 46.7% share, followed by wind with 24 contracts and a 40% share and hydro with four contracts and a 6.7% share.

Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in July 2019, with 34 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (17) and T&D Equipment (8).

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 34 contracts and a 48.6% share
  2. Supply & Erection: 21 contracts and a 30% share
  3. Power Purchase Agreement: eight contracts and an 11.4% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five contracts and a 7.1% share
  5. Consulting & Similar Services: two contracts and a 2.9% share.

Power contracts in July 2019: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Eneco Holding (Netherlands): 382.7MW from one contract
  2. The Regulatory Authority for Energy (Greece): 322.44MW from 27 contracts
  3. Volkswagen Kraftwerk (Germany): 288MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Windpark Fryslan (Netherlands): 382.7MW from one contract
  2. Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe (Germany): 288MW from one contract
  3. Dudgeon Offshore Wind (United Kingdom): 281MW capacity from one contract.
