Europe power industry contracts in Q1 2021: France leads activity

Looking at contracts by country, France led the activity in Q1 2021 with 161 contracts and a share of 36.6%, up 15% over the previous quarter and up 49% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Italy with 39 contracts and a share of 8.9% and the UK with 36 contracts and a share of 8.2% during the quarter.

Looking at the last four-quarter average, France held the top spot with 108 contracts, followed by the UK with 57 and Germany with 38 contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in Q1 2021

Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 205 contracts and a 51.5% share, followed by wind with 158 contracts and a 39.7% share and hydro with 14 contracts and a 3.5% share.

Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in Europe power contracts activity during Q1 2021, with 206 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (106) and Electricity Procurement (61).

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
