Europe power industry tenders in July 2019: Poland leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Poland led the activity in July 2019 with 28 tenders and a share of 42.4%, up 0.9% over the previous month and down 22% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Germany with eight tenders and a share of 12.1% and Russian Federation with three tenders and a share of 4.5% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, Poland held the top spot with 36 tenders, followed by Germany with six and Russian Federation with five tenders.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in July 2019

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 12 tenders and a 70.6% share, followed by wind with two tenders and an 11.8% share and hydro with one tender and a 5.9% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in July 2019, with 28 tenders, followed by T&D Project (22) and Generation Equipment (11).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 36 tenders and a 54.5% share
  2. Project Implementation: 17 tenders and a 25.8% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 11 tenders and a 16.7% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: one tender and a 1.5% share
  5. Electricity Supply: one tender and a 1.5% share.

Power tenders in July 2019: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Energinet Eltransmission (Denmark): 1,000MW from one tender
  2. Stadtwerke Strausberg: 8MW from one tender.
