Power industry tenders in January 2022: North America leads global activity
On comparing tenders activity in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 161 tenders and a share of 44.7% during January 2022, followed by Asia-Pacific with 85 tenders and a 23.6% share and Europe with 70 tenders and a 19.4% share.
In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with 24 tenders and a 6.7% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with 20 tenders and a 5.6% share.

Thermal tops by technology in January 2022
Looking at tenders by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 65 tenders and a 48.1% share, followed by solar with 59 tenders and a 43.7% share and hydro with six tenders and a 4.4% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment during January 2022, with 162 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (73) and T&D Project (45).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 233 tenders and a 64.7% share
- Project Implementation: 66 tenders and an 18.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 40 tenders and an 11.1% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 15 tenders and a 4.2% share
- Electricity Supply: three tenders and a 0.8% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: three tenders and a 0.8% share.
Power tenders in January 2022: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Philippines Department of Energy (Philippines) and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam: 2,000MW from one tender
- Indiana Michigan Power (United States): 1,300MW from one tender
- Appalachian Power (United States): 1,100MW capacity from one tender.
