Karatsu Biomass Power Project is a 49.9MW biopower project. It is planned in Saga, Japan. The project is currently in financed stage. It will be developed in single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2021 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in December 2024.

Description

The project is being developed and currently owned by Renova and Toho Gas. The company’s ownership stake in the project stands as 35% and 34% respectively.

The project is expected to generate 350,000MWh electricity and supply enough clean energy to power 110,000 households. The project cost is expected to be around $208.38m.

Agricultural by-product and wood by-product will be used as a feedstock to power the project.
