North America power industry tenders in July 2019: The US leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in July 2019 with 101 tenders and a share of 78.9%, up 4.7% over the previous month and down 17% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Canada with 27 tenders and a share of 21.1%.

Looking at the last 12-month average, the US held the top spot with 122 tenders, followed by Canada with 38.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in July 2019

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 50 tenders and a 79.4% share, followed by solar with ten tenders and a 15.9% share and wind with two tenders and a 3.2% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in July 2019, with 53 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (49) and Energy Storage (10).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 82 tenders and a 64.1% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 33 tenders and a 25.8% share
  3. Project Implementation: ten tenders and a 7.8% share
  4. Electricity Supply: two tenders and a 1.6% share
  5. Consulting & Similar Services: one tender and a 0.8% share.

Power tenders in July 2019: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:

  1. Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (United States): 2,000MW from one tender
  2. Hawaiian Electric (United States): 900MW from one tender
  3. Arizona Public Service (United States): 400MW capacity from one tender.
