Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, wind held the second position in terms of number of contracts during March 2021 with a 36.1% share.

The proportion of contracts by category in the Wind technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 47 contracts and a 49.5% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: 24 contracts and a 25.3% share
  3. Project Implementation: 13 contracts and a 13.7% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: six contracts and a 6.3% share
  5. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three contracts and a 3.2% share
  6. Electricity Supply: two contracts and a 2.1% share.

Europe leads wind contracts activity in March 2021

Comparing contracts activity in wind technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 53 contracts and a share of 55.8% during March 2021, followed by North America with 20 contracts and a 21.1% share and Asia-Pacific with 19 contracts and a 20% share.

In fourth place was South and Central America with three contracts and a 3.2% share.

The top issuers of contracts in Wind technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,200MW from four contracts
  2. Marubeni (Japan), Alcoa (United States) and CITIC Nominees Pty: 275MW from one contract
  3. Apex Clean Energy Holdings L (United States): 190MW capacity from one contract.

Wind technology contracts in March 2021: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. JSW Energy (India): 450MW from one contract
  2. Adani Green Energy (India) and Ayana Renewable Power Pvt (India): 300MW from one contract
  3. AGL Energy (Australia), Alinta Energy Pty (Australia) and Origin Energy (Australia): 275MW capacity from one contract.
