Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, solar held the top position in terms of number of contracts during Q3 2020 with a 45.7% share.
The proportion of contracts by category in the Solar technology tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 233 contracts and a 52.7% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 113 contracts and a 25.6% share
- Supply & Erection: 74 contracts and a 16.7% share
- Electricity Supply: 13 contracts and a 2.9% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: seven contracts and a 1.6% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 0.5% share.
Europe leads solar contracts activity in Q3 2020
Comparing contracts activity in solar technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 186 contracts and a share of 42.1% during Q3 2020, followed by Asia-Pacific with 112 contracts and a 25.3% share and North America with 97 contracts and a 21.9% share.

Solar technology contracts in Q3 2020: Top issuers by capacity
The top issuers of contracts in Solar technology for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 4,981.95MW from five contracts
- Total (France): 3,300MW from one contract
