Power industry tenders in July 2019: Asia-Pacific leads global activity
On comparing tenders activity in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 625 tenders and a share of 62.1% during July 2019, followed by Middle East and Africa with 182 tenders and an 18.1% share and North America with 128 tenders and a 12.7% share.
In fourth place was Europe with 66 tenders and a 6.6% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with six tenders and a 0.6% share.
On the basis of the last 12-month average, Asia-Pacific held a lead over others with 604 tenders, followed by North America with 161.

Thermal tops by technology in July 2019
Looking at tenders by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 176 tenders and a 56.2% share, followed by solar with 108 tenders and a 34.5% share and hydro with 15 tenders and a 4.8% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment during July 2019, with 392 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (290) and Generation Equipment (178).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 409 tenders and a 40.6% share
- Project Implementation: 370 tenders and a 36.7% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 201 tenders and a 20% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 15 tenders and a 1.5% share
- Electricity Supply: eight tenders and a 0.8% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: four tenders and a 0.4% share.
Power tenders in July 2019: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Manila Electric (Philippines): 2,900MW from three tenders
- Emirates Water and Electricity (United Arab Emirates), Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (United States) and Philippines Department of Energy (Philippines): 2,000MW from one tender
- Oman Power and Water Procurement (Oman), Cammesa (Argentina) and Energinet Eltransmission (Denmark): 1,000MW capacity from one tender.
