Oil was the top category in thermal technology in terms of number of tenders for the month, accounting for 114 tenders and a 75.5% share, followed by Coal with 24 tenders and a 15.9% share. Gas stood in third place with 13 tenders and an 8.6% share.

Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, thermal held the top position in terms of number of tenders during July 2020 with a 46.2% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Thermal technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 78 tenders and a 52% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 64 tenders and a 42.7% share
  3. Project Implementation: five tenders and a 3.3% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: two tenders and a 1.3% share
  5. Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 0.7% share.

North America leads thermal tenders activity in July 2020

Comparing tenders activity in thermal technology in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 93 tenders and a share of 62% during July 2020, followed by Asia-Pacific with 29 tenders and a 19.3% share and Middle East and Africa with 15 tenders and a 10% share.

In fourth place was Europe with ten tenders and a 6.7% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with three tenders and a 2% share.

The top issuer of tenders in Thermal technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved was:Government Of Haiti (Haiti) with 190MW from one tender.
