Description
The project is being developed and currently owned by Ministry of Electricity, Iraq. The company has a stake of 100%.
It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant can run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant will be natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant will run on Fuel Oil. The fuel will be procured from Al-Basrah Refinery.
Al-Khairat Combined Cycle Power Plant (Al-Khairat Combined Cycle Power Plant Phase II) consists of 1 steam turbine with 625MW nameplate capacity.
Development status
Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in May 2013.

Calik Enerji Elektrik Uetim ve Madencilik is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the Al-Khairat Combined Cycle Power Plant (Al-Khairat Combined Cycle Power Plant Phase I).
Al-Khairat Combined Cycle Power Plant (Al-Khairat Combined Cycle Power Plant Phase I) will be equipped with GE Power PG9161-E gas turbines. The phase consists of 10 gas turbines with 125MW nameplate capacity.
GE Power is expected to be the supplier of electric generator for the Al-Khairat Combined Cycle Power Plant (Al-Khairat Combined Cycle Power Plant Phase I).
