Description

The project is being developed by Kar Electrical Power Production Trading and Ministry of Electricity, Iraq. The project is currently owned by Ministry of Electricity, Iraq with a stake of 100%.

It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant can run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant will be natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant will run on Heavy Fuel Oil / Light distillate oil. The fuel will be procured from Basrah Refinery.

Development status

Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2015.

China Machinery Engineering is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the Shat Al-Basrah Desalination Power Plant (Shat Al-Basrah Combined Cycle Power Plant Steam Turbine) project. Metka is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the Shat Al-Basrah Desalination Power Plant (Shat Al-Basrah Combined Cycle Power Plant Gas Turbine) project. Shamara Holding Group is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the Shat Al-Basrah Desalination Power Plant (Shat Al-Basrah Combined Cycle Power Plant Gas Turbine) project.

Shat Al-Basrah Desalination Power Plant (Shat Al-Basrah Combined Cycle Power Plant Gas Turbine) will be equipped with GE Power 9E gas turbines. The phase consists of 10 gas turbines with 125MW nameplate capacity.

Shat Al-Basrah Desalination Power Plant (Shat Al-Basrah Combined Cycle Power Plant Steam Turbine) will be equipped with Siemens Energy SST-5000 steam turbines. The phase consists of 5 steam turbines with 130MW nameplate capacity.

Wuxi Huaguang Boiler is likely to be the supplier of steam boiler for the project.

Shamara Holding Group is expected to perform operations and maintenance for the Shat Al-Basrah Desalination Power Plant (Shat Al-Basrah Combined Cycle Power Plant Gas Turbine).
