Northern States Power and Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency are currently owning the project.

It is a Steam Turbine with Cogen power plant that is used for Baseload. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is subbituminous. In case of shortage of subbituminous the plant can also run on Distillate Fuel Oil. The fuel is procured from Powder River Basin, Low Sulfur Western Coal from Mines in Montana and Wyoming..

The project generated 12,477,637MWh of electricity.
