The Solar River Project Stage 1 – Battery Energy Storage System is a 100,000kW energy storage project located in Robertstown, South Australia, Australia. The rated storage capacity of the project is 300,000kWh.
The project was announced in 2017 and will be commissioned in 2021.
Description
The key applications of the project are renewables capacity firming and renewables energy time shift.
Contractors involved
GE Renewable Energy is the technology provider for the project.
GE Renewable Energy is the system integrator.
Additional information
The storage system is designed to capture the energy produced by the solar sources, for use in time of power demand, which can increase the availability of the plant and enable optimal use of the solar PVs. The energy storage system, called the Reservoir, will be coupled to a large 200 MW photovoltaic generation plant.
Methodology
All publicly-announced energy storage projects included in this analysis are drawn from GlobalData’s Power IC. The information regarding the projects are sourced through secondary information sources such as country specific power players, company news and reports, statistical organisations, regulatory body, government planning reports and their publications and is further validated through primary from various stakeholders such as power utility companies, consultants, energy associations of respective countries, government bodies and professionals from leading players in the power sector.
