Generation Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the South and Central America region in Q4 2020 with 21 contracts and a 35.6% share, followed by Electricity Procurement with 13 contracts and a 22% share and Power Plant with nine contracts and a 15.3% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 19 contracts and a 90.5% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 9.5% share.

Wind is top technology for South and Central America generation equipment contracts in Q4 2020

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the South and Central America region, wind accounted for eight contracts with a 38.1% share, followed by solar with seven contracts and a 33.3% share and thermal with four contracts and a 19% share.
