UK-based EDF Energy has awarded a £125m five-year agreement to global engineering consultancy Amec Foster Wheeler for providing long-term support to its nuclear generation business.

Under the technical support alliance 3 (TSA3) agreement, Amec Foster Wheeler will continue to offer operational support for the UK reactor fleet.

With an option to extend for further five years, the agreement renews Amec Foster Wheeler’s partnership with EDF under similar TSA1 and TSA2 frameworks.

The new agreement will include major station upgrades and enhancements, compliance-related activities, and fleet-critical projects.

It is expected that the deal will generate annual revenues of between £25m and £30m for Amec Foster Wheeler. The company's clean energy business president Clive White said: "Amec Foster Wheeler’s deep technical knowledge and strong track record in project delivery are crucial to our continued support for EDF Energy’s UK stations, which are producing more electricity than at any time since 2003."

The firm intends to leverage the capabilities of its engineers, safety specialists, and subject matter experts, in addition to the commercial laboratory and test rig complex.
