Danish wind turbine company Vestas has won a 131MW unconditional order for delivering renewable electricity production tax credit (PTC) qualifying turbine components in the US.

As part of the new order, Vestas will supply qualifying components compatible with a large number of varied turbines across the 2MW and 3MW platforms.

The componants will be manufactured at the company’s Colorado factories in the US, with delivery expected to commence in Q4 of this year.

Vestas' US and Canada sales and services division president Chris Brown said: “We are pleased to announce this PTC Safe Harbour order, which will enable our customer to qualify a substantial portfolio of projects for 100% of the PTC value.

“This versatile component mix will provide high-competitiveness during this PTC window, and will enable our customer to deliver even more cost-effective wind energy to rate payers throughout North America.”

Worldwide, more than 8GW of the 3MW platform and 18GW of the 2MW platform have been installed since their debut.
