EXPANSION JOINT SERVICE

Manufacturing and selling expansion joints is one thing, but to ensure complete satisfaction James Walker Townson offers a turnkey package of services.

Incorrect installation of joints is often the cause of premature failure, a feature that can be difficult to detect once the joint has been in service for some time.

To alleviate this worry, we will remove a customer's existing joints and install the new ones, using our experienced site staff who travel the world performing these functions.To complete the process, we will carry out service inspections after the joint has been running for a number of months.

COMFLEX® GAS TURBINE EXHAUST EXPANSION JOINTS

James Walker Townson's range of gas turbine exhaust joints and the adjacent steel parts offer unique solutions to problems such as high temperatures, large movements, pulsations, vibrations and water washing.

We offer joints and steel parts for most gas turbine applications and have joints successfully working in many of the most difficult - eg, Siemens V94.3 - plus many less demanding installations. These joints and steelwork have been designed utilising finite element and heat sink calculations.

COMFLEX® ELASTOMER AND PTFE FLUE DUCT EXPANSION JOINTS

Both of these materials are manufactured into expansion joints using only a single layer. The elastomers are usually Viton® fluorocarbon from DuPont Performance Elastomers, or ethylene-propylene (EPDM), and are reinforced with layers of reinforcement of fibre-glass, wire mesh or aramid.

These expansion joints are typically for difficult applications when moisture, chemicals or vibration are present in the system. Their robust nature allows them to be used for heavy dust-load duties without the need for an internal sleeve.

PTFE, on the other hand, offers the ultimate in chemical resistance. It is highly flexible, lightweight, temperature resistant to 300˚C and easy to install.

COMFLEX® METALLIC EXPANSION JOINTS

Metallic expansion joints are installed in piping systems to absorb differential thermal expansion and vibration whilst containing the system pressure. They are a highly engineered product that must conform to one of the industry codes for calculations, such as AD Merkblatt or EJMA.

Under the guidance of these codes, we offer a complete range of metallic joints that include the standard axial, lateral and angular range, plus the ability to design joints to suit individual requirements.

COMFLEX® RUBBER PIPE JOINTS

Our rubber pipe expansion joints are designed to absorb motion and displacement between pipe flanges. A wide variety of designs is available permitting optimum selection of materials and construction for many ranges of temperature and pressure.

Standard sizes are available, with custom-built configurations up to 2,500NB available on request.
