MYTILINEOS has revealed that its subsidiary, METKA EGN, has signed an EPC deal with HC ESS3 Ltd for a 20MW hybrid energy storage system (ESS) project in the UK, which will provide Fast Frequency Response (FFR) and other ancillary services to the National Grid.

This is the third contract for METKA EGN in partnership with Corylus Capital. It follows on from the recent achievement of the full commissioning of a 30MW ESS project, designed as three hybrid ESS sites in different locations, which in turn followed the first project which was a 20MW ESS project commissioned in Q1 2017.

METKA EGN has completed these projects under EPC contracts and will provide ongoing operations and maintenance services for all sites.

Ben Guest, founder and managing partner of Corylus Capital and head of Gresham House New Energy stated, “We have entrusted METKA EGN with delivering a series of complex hybrid energy storage projects on demanding time schedules and are delighted that this has been a great success for both parties.

“We appreciate enormously our long-term partnership with METKAEGN.”

METKA EGN CEO Nikos Papapetrou stated: “We are very pleased to have this opportunity to continue our long-term partnership with Corylus Capital with whom we have been cooperating with since 2013, initially for solar PV projects and now jointly implementing these innovative FFR projects.”

These projects add to the 57.6MWp / 4.2MWh solar-storage hybrid project completed for Sonnedix in Puerto Rico in 2016, confirming METKA EGN as one of the leading contractors for energy storage and related hybrid projects globally.
