Pfister - Gravimetric Weighing, Dosing and Feeding Equipment

Pfister GmbH Germany, founded in 1894, has a long history in industrial weighing equipment and is part of the Danish FLSmidth group since 1998. Pfister is a world wide leading supplier for continuous gravimetric weighing and dosing equipment.

The rotor weighfeeder principle was invented by Pfister over 20 years ago and has proven its reliability world-wide with more than 1,700 installations.

ROTOR WEIGHFEEDER TRW-K

The rotor weighfeeder TRW-K is the system for gravimetric feeding of coarse coal into coal mills. The simple, robust and wear resistant all-metal construction makes it an extremely reliable system. This guarantees a coal firing process with maximum efficiency.

The TRW-K is designed as a totally closed and explosion proof device.

FUNCTIONAL PRINCIPLE

The rotor weighfeeder extracts the coarse coal out of the coal bunker and feeds it with high accuracy and reproducibility to the coal mill. The rotor weighfeeder works like a horizontal star feeder. The gravimetric coal mass in the feeder gets measured by a load cell. The speed of the feeder motor is controlled inverse to the coal content in the feeder. Less coal in the feeder results in higher speed, more coal in the feeder in lower speed. The outcome is a highly accurate feedrate at the outlet.

BENEFITS OF GRAVIMETRIC FEEDING

Especially when delivered from different sources, coal properties constantly vary due to sizing differences, different moisture, flow characteristics and density. Gravimetric feeding compensates these variations and therefore supplies a much more accurate feedrate. This results in combustion optimization and an increase in efficiency. It allows to better control the combustion process.

The are several benefits of gravimetric feeding:

  • Exact and constant amount of coal feed to the mill
  • Saving of coal due to exact control of excess air
  • Less slagging or corrosion of furnace
  • Less NOx formation
  • Fast and stable boiler load changes
  • Accurate energy accounting

BENEFITS OF THE ROTOR WEIGHFEEDER SYSTEM

The rotor weighfeeder is an advanced feeding system which has the following benefits when compared to traditional feeders:

  • Gravimetric feeding
  • Stable coal dosing
  • Outstanding reliability
  • High dosing accuracy and constancy
  • Compact, robust, closed design
  • All metal construction (no rubber, no belts, no idlers, no pulleys)
  • Explosion proof up to 10bar
  • Easy to install
  • Large dosing feed range
  • Low speed moving rotor
  • Reliable and safe operation
  • Self-cleaning, no material spillage
  • Extremely economical in respect to power consumption
  • Easy removal of any foreign material through service openings
  • Negligible wear
  • All measuring elements accessible from outside, therefore easy to maintain
