nHance Releases MMS 7.2 Software with New Features to Enhance Dynamic Simulations

nHance Technologies is proud to announce the release of MMS 7.2 with exciting new features to assist the development and deployment of dynamic simulations.

The Modular Modeling System (MMS™) is a software package capable of simulating power plant systems for operator training, dynamic control system validation, or engineering analysis. With MMS, simulation engineers and power plant personnel build power plant simulations using a Graphic User Interface tool called the MMS Model Builder™. Release 7.2 of MMS adds new modules to the MMS library and includes new features for the Model Builder as well as the MMS Simulation Tools™ and HMI Kit™ add-on products. In addition, this release of MMS contains several bug fixes and includes support for more compilers.

Some of the improvements made to the MMS library include support for physical properties of Methane. In addition, the generic heat exchanger module was modified to enhance support for matching specification data. The PID Controller module was upgraded to support control mode selection through the HMI kit. A new pipe module was created to support all three modes of heat transfer with dynamic tuning. These are just a few of the new features created from customer feedback and various project requirements.

The most exciting new feature added to MMS Simulation Tools is the addition of an Initial Condition (IC) file management tool. This smart IC tool is capable of restoring Initial Condition and other data image files after model revisions. The smart IC tool has an easy-to-use interface and includes the ability to edit values within an IC file while off-line. The bulk IC file-editing feature is useful in cases where tuning changes need to be applied to a vast number of IC files. This single feature can drastically increase simulation development efficiency, while at the same time, provides consistent operator training after model changes.

The HMI Kit is a package for creating Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens for MMS based models. HMI Kit users can create interactive user interface screens using Microsoft Visual Basic .NET, via drag and drop, without writing a single line of code. The resulting HMI screens communicate natively to MMS, which can then communicate to other systems via OPC, Modbus, or shared memory. Version 7.2 improvements to HMI Kit include live trending widgets, full US/SI unit support, and improved faceplates. Live trending allows customers to build trend screens with custom colors, plots, and axis scales. Full US/SI support allows users to swap between different units at the HMI level, without having to modify the model. The new faceplates provide enhanced bar charts, more colors and control modes.

The nHance Cloud servers provide custom configuration management to all MMS users. The nHance cloud Configuration Management System (CMS) is designed to provide updates to MMS users, on their timetable, and if desired, on a project-by-project basis. Users who are members of nHance’s subscription and support service (The MMS Professional’s program) already have the ability to upgrade to MMS 7.2 via the nHance Cloud.
