Malshej is a 600MW hydro power project. It is planned on Kalu river/basin in Maharashtra, India. The project is currently in announced stage. It will be developed in single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2027 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2031.

Description

The project is being developed by Nuclear Power Corporation of India and THDC India. These companies also have ownership stakes in the project.

Malshej is a pumped storage project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 26.85 million cubic meter. The net head of the project will be 413m. The project is expected to generate 1,680 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $996.548m.

The hydro power project consists of 2 turbines, each with 350MW nameplate capacity.

Development Status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2027. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2031.
