North America thermal technology tenders in Q2 2019 saw 293 tenders announced, marking a rise of 144% over the last four-quarter average of 120, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Oil was the top category in thermal technology in terms of number of tenders for the quarter in North America, accounting for 265 tenders and a 90.4% share, followed by Gas with 28 tenders and a 9.6% share.

The proportion of thermal technology tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

1. Supply & Erection with 197 tenders and a 67.2% share
2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 93 tenders and a 31.7% share
3. Consulting & Similar Services: one tender and a 0.3% share
4. Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 0.3% share
5. Project Implementation: one tender and a 0.3% share.

The US tops North America thermal power tenders activity

The US was the top country in the North America region for thermal technology tenders recorded in Q2 2019 with 207 tenders and a 70.6% share, followed by Canada with 86 tenders and a 29.4% share.

The top issuer of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in North America was:City of Farmington (United States) with 18MW from one tender.
