The project is currently owned by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power.
Samrangjin is a pumped storage project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 4.766 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project is 355m. Samrangjin underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2018-2021.
Development Status
The project got commissioned in 1979.
Contractors Involved
Hitachi Mitsubishi Hydro was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of francis turbines, each with 300MW nameplate capacity.
Voith Hydro Holding supplied 2 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 385 MVA.
